During IYM Dachau 2024 (27.07.-10.08.2024) a part of the participants redesigned the walls of the guest lounge in the Max Mannheimer House. Together, they developed an interactive design concept to visualize international understanding, respect for fundamental and human rights and peaceful coexistence. They were supported by the Dachau-based Outer Circle association. The public vernissage took place on August 8th.
What differs IYM Dachau from most other international youth meetings is its long history, but especially its multilateral approach. Every year young people from 15 to 20 countries are coming to Dachau. And every year participants keep asking us, how they can contribute and which options they have to share their traditions and culture. Food is one big part of that which is why we made a call and asked participants and teamers to send us recipes they like and what connection they have to IYM Dachau.

For our theme day on 2024’s focus topic ‘Antisemitism’, our partners from the European Janusz Korczak Academy ran a series of four workshops on various aspects of Jewish life and the emergence of Antisemitism, so that all participants were able to take part in all the sessions. They dealt with their own prejudices and myths on the subject and learned how to stand up for people who experience discrimination. Additionally they had the chance to discover Jewish objects, food and drinks.
