Team, project management and representatives of the hosts met in Nuremberg from February 28th to March 2nd for the first preparation weekend in 2025.

Friday, 28.02.2025

After the welcome and clarification of organizational details, the group began with a round of introductions so that old and new team members could get to know each other and exchange ideas. We then discussed the individual tasks of the team and defined the framework conditions for this year’s IYM Dachau. In the evening, we talked about the requirements for good images for public relations work and did a quiz on German youth law to repeat our knowledge concerning the IYM rules and our responsibilities.

Saturday, 01.03.2025

After a team-building exercise on the topic of communication with Frank Schleicher, one of our hosting representatives, we discussed which formats of the IYM from last year should be retained and to what extent the structure should be adapted. To implement the perspectives of our participants, we are asking all our participants to fill out our feedback polls after each IYM. We then worked in small groups to develop proposals for this year’s program and laid out the rough planning. Later that afternoon, we visited the Nuremberg Trials Memorial and took part in the program ‘From the Nuremberg Trials to the International Criminal Court in The Hague’. At the end of the day, we elected the two team representatives. Congratulations to Hannah and Mai Ly!

Sunday, 02.03.2025

On the third day of our preparation weekend, we started with a warm-up before assigning responsibilities for the individual tasks and formats. The teams for social media, awareness, first aid, color groups, social media, workshops, excursions, parties, games or field trips were determined, as well as which team members would conduct which workshops or for which we would invite experts. After the feedback round, all the tasks that need to be completed by the upcoming preparation weekend in June were set. You’ll find the first version of our schedule here.

Outlook

By the second preparation weekend in June, we will know which partners will take part in our program, which eyewitnesses and guests will come. We will have our workshop concepts ready and the plans for our trips.
